FUB is crafted with care for the environment. We choose the best materials to ensure quality, durability, and comfort. We only use OEKO-TEX® certified non-mulesed merino wool, OEKO-TEX® certified lambswool and GOTS certified organic cotton.
We strive to achieve fully certified production of all FUB garments. We are not there yet, but we are constantly working to improve our production and obtain the essential certificates.
By farming sheep, the land can naturally regenerate and sustain itself and the sheep are managed without being fed modified feeds. In the production process the wool is not dipped in harmful chemicals, which means that humans, animals, the land, and water suppliers are not contained. FUB has chosen the best and softest merino wool that has many characteristics. It keeps you worm and at the same time it draws sweat away from the skin and retains the moisture, so the clothing still feels dry to the touch. Therefore, we recommend wearing wool all year round.
Wool doesn’t need washing as often as other textiles might. Instead you can take care of your FUB woolens by following these directions:
Hang it out instead of washing if the garment only needs refreshing. Many types of wool have anti-bacterial properties already in the fiber and will self-clean. Spot clean the garment if only a small area needs to be cleaned. Be careful not to use too much concentrated detergent as this can damage the material. When washing your woolens, pay extra attention and wash at maximum 30 degrees in a gentle wool wash or on delicate cycle (no or very low spin cycle). Washing wool by high temperature or at high spin cycle will cause pillage, felting and shrinkage to the garment. Machine washing at a gentle wool cycle is preferred to wash by hand because wool needs to be washed at a stable temperature. We recommend using wool soap. Never use bleach, softeners, or soap with bleach. If you are out of wool soap, use hair shampoo, which is designed for natural fibers. Never use a tumble dryer! Dry your woolens by laying them flat on a towel to absorb any extra moisture, whilst gently reshaping them. Knits can be heavy when wet so drying them over a rail or hanging them will pull them out of shape.
By farming cotton organically, the harmful impact of the pesticides to the land is eliminated and therefor soil fertility and biodiversity is greatly increased. Water is not polluted by chemicals and therefor aquatic life is maintained and unharmed by cotton production. The used water is recycled, and dyestuff is removed so unnecessary pollution is avoided. Since skin can ‘breathe’ and absorb what is placed on the body, the natural purity of organic cotton from farming and processing greatly reduces the impact of the harmful chemicals being exposed to the surface of the skin. FUB has chosen the strongest, finest and softest organic cotton that promotes healthy development for mankind and the satisfaction of consumers.
Cotton is fully machine washable, but we recommend washing on delicate cycle to preserve the softness. We recommend washing cotton at maximum 40 degrees using a mild detergent that preserves both the colours and the natural fibers. We don’t recommend using a tumble dryer! Dry your cottons by laying them flat on a towel to absorb any extra moisture, whilst gently reshaping them. Knits can be heavy when wet so drying them over a rail or hanging them will pull them out of shape.
